Robert’s academic interests lie in ancient political thought and its applications in contemporary political philosophy. He has written on this theme in the context of an undergraduate honours thesis involving a comparative study of ancient political thought and modern discourses of efficiency as well as a Master’s dissertation defending C.B. Macpherson’s philosophical anthropology from an Aristotelian perspective. He is also interested in the ancient Greek preoccupation with human excellence as it pertains to contemporary debates in environmental ethics and politics and more recently in Canadian public policy. His PhD research explores the applications of Platonic moral psychology in modern civic education.
Robert holds a BA (Hons) in Political Science and a Certificate in Globalization and Governance from the University of Alberta as well as an MPhil in Political Theory from the University of Oxford.
